Finance Director, Town Treasurer/Tax Collector
Town of Wrentham
The Town of Wrentham, Massachusetts, seeks a highly motivated and experienced finance professional to serve as its Finance Director, Town Treasurer/Tax Collector.
The Finance Director shall work in cooperation with the Town Administrator to produce the Town's annual budget. He/she is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town’s computer system.
The Treasurer, under the direction of the Board of Selectmen, collects taxes, water use fees and other municipal obligations and invests and disburses all municipal funds in accordance with Massachusetts law, Town Bylaws and generally accepted financial policies and procedures for municipal government.
In addition to preparing detailed cash flow analyses and initiating short-term borrowing, the individual works with the Town’s financial advisor to arrange long-term financing for capital projects as well as interfacing with Moody’s Investors Service and Bond Counsel. As well as initiating collection efforts on unpaid property taxes and placement of liens and tax title proceedings, he/she shall arrange for efficient and cost effective banking and related services and will complete a monthly reconciliation of cash and bank accounts.
Successful candidates shall, at a minimum, possess a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration (master’s degree is preferred) and five or more years of progressively responsible cash management experience, preferably in either the municipal or not-for-profit sectors. Knowledge of Massachusetts local government operations is strongly preferred. A detailed job description is available upon request or at www.wrentham.ma.us. Salary range: $70,000-$87,000.
